Britannia Standard Schnauzers
The Standard Schnauzer goes back to the fifteenth
century. He did not have the stylish life of silken pillows, but the plebeian
life of the trusted guard and family dog of the working class. Schnauzer-like
dogs appear in several art works of this early period. In

standard size and measurements for the schnauzer
The standard Schnauzer is a
very hearty, active, high-spirited, feisty, intelligent, devoted, courageous,
affectionate and bold dog. This breed, pet or show quality, will require a
firm, active, confident leader with time to train, socialize, and exercise!
Schnauzer means ‘muzzle’ in German, so this breed was named for its
characteristic shaggy muzzle. The standard schnauzer is the prototypical
schnauzer, the oldest of the three sizes. Definite evidence of the breed exists
from as early as the 14th century; even then, it was appreciated as a household
pet and hunting companion. The breed is a fortuitous blend of terrier, working
and hunting stock, most likely derived from crossing wirehaired pinschers with
black German poodles and grey wolf spitz. The result was a hardy rat catcher
that also functioned as a capable guard dog.
Bretannoire
Standard Schnauzers
As an
intermittent breeder, my dogs are primarily, household pets. That means they
live we me, and my partner in our home, and are very much an integral part of
our family. Occasionally, we do produce a litter, so feel free to enquire if
you’re looking to acquire a puppy. My dogs are bred with form and temperament
in mind, and therefore, make good companion and family pets. They are just as
capable of snuggling up with you on the coach, as they are guarding the family
jewels. This is a picture of our 2003 litter:
Jumbo Jet
Grand Calvera at Bretannoire is the latest addition to
my family. He was imported from Czech Republican and has sired his first
litter. I am very hopeful for him. He should improve the gene pool in the UK
superbly:
